Author Journal 22nd – 28th July 2021

Last week was pretty uneventful. It was just a cycle of work, housey stuff, and dealing with the heat. Yes, I know, I’m in Scotland, but it does get hot here (27 degrees is hot for us) plus, there’s no air conditioning, and the sun blazes from 0430-ish to 2200-ish. 🥵

Oh, and we’re being terrorized by this cute wee cat who seems to want to adopt us.

0450 yesterday morning

(We would love to adopt her, but our rental contract doesn’t allow animals. 🥺 )

My Writing Goals for Last Week

Did I Achieve My Goal?

No, but I did get pretty close. I wrote exactly 4,500 words that stuck, and have blocked out the next two scenes for writing. I’m very happy with the progress; 15,158 words total, that’s sixteen percent of the first draft written! 😁

This Week’s Goal

  • Add 5000 words for Running The Asset (hit 20,158 words total)

Schedule

ThursdayWrite 1000 words
FridayWrite 1000 words
SaturdayDay off
SundayWrite 1000 words
MondayWrite 1000 words
TuesdayWrite 1000 words
WednesdayDay off

That’s it for today. Thanks for stopping by, and take care.

    1. Oh, I was so tempted, but with the COVID I didn’t want to risk it. I’ve heard several stories now that it can pass to cats–not sure if it can go the other way–and didn’t want to risk it, us, or its owners whoever they are.

      1. A wise precaution. I hadn’t realised cats could be infected/infectious. Fortunately Luna’s not one to mix outside the house and we’ve been ultra careful the whole time this has been going on.

  1. A lovely Winters day for me at 27C although this week the temperatures have plummeted to the high teens. A chilly 18C yesterday but I will be sweating spitting firewood with todays 20C as tonight it will be around 4C
Keep writing and take the kitty to the pound unless you know where it lives 🙂

    1. 😱 I’m a Scot, we cannae take those temperatures. Jeez, we’re looking at moving back to the east coast where they’ve got a high of 19 today. 🤣
We think the cat lives a few streets away. It seems well fed. We just put an extra bowl of water out for it–we have several for the squirrels, birds, and other wondering cats.

      1. Blimey….time to buy a new bikini. 😂 with a wildlife backyard the cats would be wondering what to eat next 😹
