Wow.

Wow.

Wow.

What a week last week turned out to be; I’m still reeling from it. I’ve got this weird detached feeling about it. It’s like this crazy combo of it was a year ago and that it was someone else’s experience. Basically, forgive the lack of detail about what occurred last week.

Review 28th April – 4th May 2022

Here’s what last week’s goal looked like:

The Original Plan

At the start of January, I decided to take a couple of months out to re-outline some of the story, and it was a really great way to force myself to complete the scene blocking of Acts 2B and 3–a task I should have completed before writing, but I was eager to get started 🤷‍♀️

When I started back writing this story at the beginning of March, I had to guess what the new word count would be once I finished. I guesstimated 140K words based on the length of previous scenes.

With a rough estimate of how many words I still needed to write, and the rate of 3-5K words each week, I was looking at 31st July as my completion date.

Yeah, I hated how far away that was, and a few weeks ago, I decided to up my game to 10k per week to finish on the 9th of May. But, I was hitting 12K+ and saw that I could be done–at a push–on the 2nd of May. I typed THE END on the 1st of May!

The Final Stretch

Here’s a quick wee look back at how it went, in picture form.

Thursday
Friday
Saturday

I had to rework the last few scenes on Saturday to get them ready for the final push on Sunday. The rework was nothing major; I wanted to up the ante on the romance climax (hee hee hee).

Sunday

Okay, the goal was to write 10K+ to get the story finished. I wrote a total of 9,492 words. I don’t know if I’m more shocked about finishing so early or that my guesstimate was so close.

I have to say that it hasn’t quite sunk in yet, but until it does, I want to take a moment to say how very grateful I am for all of the support I’ve had from Jez and all of you. All your encouraging comments and cheerleading kept me going when all I really wanted to do was crawl under a blanket and hide. For that and your continued support, THANK YOU!!!

This Week’s Goal

Finished doesn’t mean done. 😢 I’ve got another week before our holiday time, and there’s still work to do. Namely, prepping for the edits!

  • Update all scenes, including editing and research notes, in NovelCreator, Scrivener, and the scene blocking book

That’s it for today. Thanks for stopping by, and take care.

🤣 Your lack of patience makes me so happy!
I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed for starting Book 2 in September. I should probably uncross them to get the work done… 😜
The newsletter is going out in about two weeks from today (at the latest).
