Taking Aim

I thought that it was about time to get back to the site. Instead of jumping back in with one of my regular post series–I’m still taking a break from work at the moment–I wanted to do something a wee bittie different.

Even though I’m more comfortable aiming down range than I am down a camera lens, I’ve decided to step out of my comfort zone and take part in this week’s Lens Artist challenge–guest hosted by my beloved, Jez.

In Jez’s Seeing Double post he challenges us to share our photos of reflections. Other than reflections of me in museum displays 😂, I didn’t think I’d have many. But, I was wrong. Yay!

Things in Scots: Running the Asset Edition – Gaither

Advertisements

It’s another Things in Scots day, or Friday if you want to call it that. 😁 As I mentioned in previous posts, it’s challenging to find snippets that don’t contain spoilers… or torrid sex scenes. 😈 But, I managed to find something that doesn’t give anything away, and it doesn’t have anything more than some naughty thoughts going on in the text.

Here’s the snippet… (mid-editing draft!)

Hiya 👋

It was only a matter of time before I hit a roadblock with editing. Mainly because editing is a mammoth task, and like with any job this big, it’s inevitable to stumble along the way. And stumble I did.

Things in Scots: Gies a Scots Phrase Day

According to Scottish Twitter, it’s #GiesAScotsPhraseDay (give us a Scots phrase) today! And, luckily for me, it’s a Things in Scots post day!

As I can’t think of a complete Scots phrase in Running the Asset (off the top of my), other than stick the heid oan, I’ll share this one with you.

Hiya 👋

Last week I shared that I set up a timetable to help me focus on my edits. I also mentioned that I’d probably not stick to it. My prediction was correct, but not to the extent I’d internally feared. Yay!

The timetable I set up is a fantasy. The fact I actually stuck to it 70-ish% of the time is shocking to me. The times I did stick to it, I saw a considerable increase in my focus on the job–and a boost in my overall productivity. 🤓

Things in Scots: Running the Asset Edition – Bide

Hiya! It’s getting pretty hard to find a Scots word in the manuscript that doesn’t contain spoilers. 😬 Even though this one comes from later in the story, it’s not much of a spoiler, thankfully!
