It must feel exciting to you!

It really does. My inner chimp’s so happy she’s marching around my head clanging massive cymbals ?

  2. Photos by Jez – I'm a Royal Navy Veteran from Scotland and love to get out and about with my wife, susantbraithwaite.com, on our Kalkhoff e-bikes. My faithful camera, Snappy, and the ever-present Lensy (lensball) are always along for the ride to capture the beauty of Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. Join me as I share photos from our travels, how Lensy views the world & pretty much anything shiny ✨

Woohoo, Index cards — do you have enough ?

Index cards? Are you making a speech?? Sorry, Susan, I’m only kidding 😉
I’m so impressed by your writing process. If I had your self-discipline I would keep falling down plot holes and disappearing into dead-ends! (Although this weekend I’m fighting back to the surface and putting on a spurt in my 32nd chapter.)
But back to you. If Amy and Kelvin’s exploits are anything to go by, you have best-seller material at your finger tips 🙂

Wow, thank you so much, Chris! ?
I actually laughed when I read about my “self-discipline”–I’ve been in awe of your work rate, and more than a wee bit jealous.
As for the index cards, I’m still a screenwriter at heart and it’s the done thing ?
This whole pre-editing thing encourages you to outline every possible version you come up with so that you make the best story decisions before writing 80K. It’s a lot of work–a few hundred to a few thousand words (? me) each version–but it makes the writing faster.
      How’s chapter 32 going?

Pre-editing makes perfect sense. I suppose I just go the long way around. I’m managing to complete a chapter each week, so to be almost half way through no 32 is a plus on a Tuesday (although it depends what you count as the start of the week!!).

Wow! I’m so impressed with your output and commitment. My week starts Sat/Sun, so you’re still ahead of the game by my reckoning. ?

  • […] Last week I posted about getting stuck into adding some meat to Working the Asset‘s story skeleton. I’d fantasized that I’d have posted that I’d gotten that done by now and was on the way to editorial pass #2…I may have bitten off more than I could chew for the time I had allowed for it. […]
