Hiya, Everyone! 👋
I’m back! I can’t tell you how excited I am to finally get back to working on Running the Asset. If you could see how big my smile is as I write this, then you’d… Okay, you’d probably think I was a crazed psycho with how wide my eyes are.

Anyway. If you’re wondering where the hell I’ve been for the last half of 2022 after finishing my first draft, I wrote about it here. The main thing is that I’m ready to get back to bringing Adam and Elle’s story to an e-reader near you in 2023.
The New Editing Plan
I wrote about my editing plan in May or June last year while trying to get everything done in the shortest time possible. You know, the strategy written by a crazy person on the very edge of burnout.
Now that I’m safely away from the burnout cliff and a wee bittie less crazy here’s the new plan:
- Iterative rewrites
- New scenes
- Amp up the emotions (I always have to go back in to add the emotions–I’m a robot)
- Descriptions
- Dialogue
- Content edit
- Proofreading
- Beta readers
- Editor
This Week’s Goal
Starting off nice and gentle, this week my aim is to:
- Re-evaluate the outline for romance and suspense beats for improvements
- Scene blocking for new scenes
- Scene blocking for rewrites
The crazy-looking screenshot above is the new-to-me program, Plottr, that I’ll use to complete this week’s tasks. Plottr gives a visual timeline of multiple plot lines on one screen. But it does more than that; it also lets you input scene outlines and link characters and locations to those scenes. It’s going to be a lot of fun–and probably some frustration–working with Plottr for this week’s tasks.
That’s it for today. Thanks for stopping by, and remember to hit like and leave a comment below. Have an awesome week!
Plottr does look scary but I am sure you’ll be back into the swing of things soon enough Susan. I though a photo of Jez on the cover would have attracted more readers 😉
Plottr doesn’t normally look that scary. That’s just a glimpse of what the inside of my brain looks like on an organised day 😂
The guy in the photo does remind me of Jez when we met 😉 (kind of why I chose the pic). Maybe I’ll chuck in an old photo of Jez when I get around to designing the cover.😁
Woohoo 🎉 You’re back 🥸
Bwah ha!
Very exciting!
Thank you, Chris 😍💐
Plottr looks difficult to me!
So glad you have a much more slower schedule Susan!
Thanks, Aletta! Plottr isn’t actually that difficult. The picture is a visual representation of how messy my brain is when it comes to plotlines. (It’s now all neat and tidy!)
Then I’m happy 😀
