The Greatest Gift: Beyond Material Desires

“What is the greatest gift someone could give you?” I didn’t really have an answer when I saw this question. Money, a book deal, the ability to spend the day with my characters? The last one sounded great until I thought about the realities of their spy lives ?. I let the question sit for a while and found that my thoughts had taken a more introspective path.

The Dream of Unburdened Creativity

As with many writers, the thought of being able to write without the constant distractions of everyday life is something I dream about. Being able to completely immerse myself in my world of romantic suspense, free from mundane responsibilities…

A Wee Office on Wheels

The fantasy of a wee campervan transformed into a roving office also flits through my mind. Imagine jumping in the van and heading off to inspiring locales, penning stories against the backdrop of nature or bustling cityscapes.

Beyond Material Wishes

But if I delve deeper, beyond these tangible wishes, the yearning for stability surfaces. In a world rife with uncertainties, the assurance of stable ground beneath my feet, both literally and metaphorically, is invaluable.

The Elusive Cure

And then there’s the battle with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). If someone could gift me and other sufferers a cure, live a day devoid of its challenges, and regain the full spectrum of physical capabilities we once had – that would be a gift beyond measure.

The Greatest Gift

The greatest gifts in life are often intangible. They are the desires that resonate with our deepest longings for freedom, creativity, health, and stability. (Granted, I’m not going to turn down a jackpot win on the lottery! ?)

What about you? What is the greatest gift someone could give you? Let me know in the comments.

A wee office on wheels! A dream of mine for a long time. But I am unable to convince my spouse to give up the four walls for four wheels. ?

Mine’s convinced. Just need the coins and a way to get insurance, etc., without a permanent address. ??
