SLDS: Taking a Break for Love and Health

Hey everyone,

I’m taking a much-needed break this week to celebrate my 21st wedding anniversary (and 27 wonderful years together)! 🥂 It’s an extended break, so there won’t be a new SLDS prompt until Friday, 31st May. This time away will give me a chance to recuperate (health issues have been flaring up a lot lately) and catch up with all of your superb blogs—something I’ve dearly missed doing lately.

Last Week’s Highlights: Evading Surveillance in a Crowded Market

SLDS: Evading Surveillance

Shopping is supposed to be fun. Hell, some people swear it’s like therapy. But that random stranger who caught your eye outside the shoe shop keeps turning up. Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not.

You spot them again, and rather than chalk it up to your growing paranoia, you watch him confer with two others. They go their separate ways as you keep an eye on them in the reflection of the bookstore’s window.

Paranoid or not, their eyes are firmly on you. What started out as a bit of retail therapy has transformed into your mission: evading surveillance! Welcome to this week’s Spies, Lies & Digital Skies art challenge: Evading Surveillance in a Crowded Market

SLDS: A Forest Ambush

In the hush of twilight, the forest breathes around you. Shadows grow and merge, shrouding the serene landscape in a blanket of mystery. In the distance, the subtle crunch of leaves breaks the silence—a sound that could easily go unnoticed. But not by you.

Is it merely wildlife scurrying in the underbrush or something more sinister? A hidden adversary lying in wait? Or is it this week’s theme for our Spies, Lies & Digital Skies art challenge: “Ambush in a Shadowy Forest.”

SLDS: Hidden Safe House

The midday sun beats down over the rugged peaks of Southern California. You shield your eyes from whatever glints and sparkles into them just below the ridge. It calls to your adventurous heart. Picking up speed, careful not to slide on the loose gravel, you close in on your target. There, nestled between the rocky peaks, lies a secret—a hidden safe house.

This isn’t just any hideout; it’s a sanctuary for those who walk the fine line between the shadows and the light. Welcome to “A Spy’s Hidden Safe House,” this week’s exciting challenge in our Spies, Lies & Digital Skies art adventure.

SLDS: Mysterious Phone Call

It’s the dead of night, and your phone rings, waking you from a deep sleep. You don’t recognise the number. Usually, you ignore unknown numbers and send them to voicemail. But what if this mysterious phone call is different? What if answering it is your first step into the world of espionage and mystery? This is not a drill. Welcome to “Tracing a Mysterious Phone Call”, this week’s prompt for our Spies, Lies & Digital Skies art challenge.

Last Week’s Highlights

Last week’s prompt, ‘Escape from a high-security facility,’ was tricky. I’m getting to the point where I wince before reading the new one each week. Kevin and Jez have both been vocal about their feelings about the prompts and the headaches they’ve been causing. But, even so, they meet the challenge head-on each week and produce spectacular results.
