Word Count Update 14th April

Getting started was a bit of a struggle–shiny distraction squirrels live in my phone–but after half an hour on the elliptical, I was ready.

I aimed to hit somewhere between 1,000-and 1,250. But by the end of my morning sprints, I only had 951 words in the bank. So, with the knowledge gained from my writing experiment, I added an afternoon sprint to make up the shortfall, and then some!

Running the Asset‘s manuscript is now at 108,626 words.

Last week was odd. It started with a mystery leak in the kitchen that ate a fair bit of writing time. A leak that, after hunting its source down, turned out to be a spill 🤦‍♀️ But after that… nothing. No dramas. No llamas. No distractions.

Things in Scots: Running the Asset Edition – Gie’s

After yesterday’s mammoth writing session, I was contemplating writing this post tomorrow to give my poor hands a break. But, I had a quick look through what I was writing over the last week, and today’s word jumped out at me.

Word Count Update 10th April

Oh, wow! I’ve actually impressed myself with today’s word count, hence the sparkly backdrop. But, it’s not without a mega-ton of pain.

I went beyond what I’m physically capable of doing, and now my hand is screaming for a bucket of ice. Yet, I know if I’d stopped a thousand words earlier, I’d have been so mad at myself. I was on a roll, and the words just kept coming. And there was this whole thing with Adam… but I can’t say because, well, spoilers. Bottom line, the “thing” made me love him more than I already did.

Running the Asset‘s manuscript is now at 107,121 words. And, that’s me away for a wee lie doon!

Word Count Update 7th April

I hadn’t expected to have a high word count today. There was an issue outwith writing that needed my attention. Ah, the joys of writing at home 😜 So, I yoinked an extra hour of writing time this afternoon–and a flagon of coffee (what’s the volume of a flagon?).

Anyway, Running the Asset‘s manuscript is now at 102,278 words. 🎉

Author Journal 7th – 13th April 2022

Before I write these journal posts, I check back over my planner to get a reminder of what I did the previous week. Turns out that what I thought had happened actually didn’t. I thought I’d remembered the week pretty well–it was my first week back after ten days off; it can’t have been that difficult of a week. Hmm. I was so, so wrong about it.

Things in Scots: Running the Asset Edition – Sma

Hi everyone! Let’s start April off with a nice easy Scots word. There are a surprising amount of things today’s word means, but in the context of the snippet, the meaning I’m going for is obvious–well, I’m pretty confident that it is.

Here’s the snippet… (unedited first draft)
