Things in Scots: Running the Asset Edition – Dinnae

Swatch

This week’s word is super easy. I had a different word in mind for today, but the snippet was full of spoilers 😬 And, as I can’t search for just italics in Scrivener, I thought I’d cheat and go with a nice easy one.

Here’s the snippet… (unedited first draft)

“I, I…” the words evaporated before reaching Elle’s lips. She’d never outright lied to her sister–at least not to her face–and the thought of doing it now twisted her stomach.

“She had specialised training while working at the embassy,” Adam said from the doorway, his eyes fixed on Elle. “We need to move.” He turned, addressing Dani. “Killian’s waiting for you.”

Dani slid her leg into the artificial limb, her eyes on Adam the whole time, probably willing him to say something so she could have the fight she so desperately wanted to have with Elle. “One scratch on her, and I’ll hunt you down and feed you your own spleen.”

“I dinnae doubt it.”

Running the Asset (Deniable Unit )

If you didn’t get the meaning for dinnae from the snippet, it means do not. See, nice and simple!

That’s it for this week

I hope you enjoyed this post. I’d love to hear your comments on how easy or difficult it was to get the gist of dinnae as it appeared in the quote.
